Why don't we make a baby? We're not making a baby at the supermarket.我们不能在超市来造人吧Hands off the merchandize. Honey, women pay me thousands of dollars to handle their boobs. You get it free. I think he is such a boob. "我觉得他真是个愚不可及的人";"蠢人"会让人联想到"蠢事","蠢事"其实就一个是一个错误mistake所以,大家顺便记住,boob还有一个意义是"错误",看个例子,getting to invite her to the party was a real boob." You always act strange after he shows up. I'm not acting strange, I'm looking macaroni. So why did you stick with him so long anyways? Can we just give it a rest, please?我们不谈这个好吗,拜托了?- He's the father of my children. I'm going to stick a hook onthewall. We'll stick to each other wherever we go." KateYou gave up med school so you could have Noah. You practically raised him and Lilly by yourselfwhile he sat glued to a laptop writing that junk. He or She is a junk. I see nothing but junk in the annual report." It's not junk! He's published. Oh, published. Right, I got, copies. Kate, listen, we have to keep working at this. I mean, I don't know, Honey,I feel like there's something pulling us apart. 71I was fifteen when I (became a Christian). I did it after ing a verse in the Bible. It was where Jesus explained why a man was born blind. He said it was o that the works of God may be shown through him. I truly believed that God would heal me - I could be a demonstration of His great power. Later, I gained wisdom. I understood that if we pray something, it will happen if it is God will. And it will be in his time. If it is not God will, then he has something better. (I now understand that) God is using me just the way I am. He is using me in a way that he cannot use others. God has given me a strong desire to share my story and experiences. I want to help other people deal with the difficulties in their lives. I want God to turn their difficulties into blessings. And I want to encourage other people to live their lives to the full. I want to encourage people not to let anything get in the way of reaching their hopes and dreams. 5659 What I Learn from Them When I was a child, my father (having no son) decided he would instill a love of sport in both of his daughters. While my sister leans more towards football, a love of basketball took root in my own heart and flowered. I can remember the great days of Clyde Drexler leading the team of defenders. The smiling face of a rookie, Sam Cassell, whose deep love of the game caused him to grin and laugh after taking a three-point shot that made everyone jump to their feet and gasp in anxiety bee the whole crowd would explode into sounds of joy as the ball made a soft ;swish; through the hoop. And of course, the big man. There are times when we wake up that we are haunted by a dream we cannot remember... yet there was a Dream all of Houston experienced together that no one could ever get. Hakeem Olajuwon came to us from Nigeria as a very shy freshman who would make a name himself at the University of Houston, where the days of Phi Slama Jama will never be gotten. He would quickly endear himself to the City of Houston, where those of us who watched his career on the court also saw him grow into his position as center, watched his skills develop and also, the baptism by fire of a great leader, who through his humbleness and grace would lead a brave young team to world championships. Olajuwon humbleness, despite his obvious fame, lead him to keep quiet when the Houston Rockets franchise printed his first jersey with the name, ;Akeem,; using his first name instead of his last and misspelling it as well. Another man would come to Houston, bigger than the last, but just as great in spirit. Yao Ming comes from Shanghai, China, a world as distant to most Houstonians as the other side of the moon. However, what Yao Ming is teaching us is a lesson that the NBA and all who watch it should learn. We live in the age where rookies with even the slightest amount of talent thump their chests and cry out loudly attention. Sadly, the game of basketball has turned into a game with players who worked together as a team to a group of players lead by one man. They are eager to promote themselves over their teams, but Yao Ming is changing all that. Yao gets off the bench to hand his teammates towels to wipe the sweat out of their eyes. You will rarely see him celebrate some achievement he has accomplished, but he will be the first one to high-five one of his teammates, or pat them on the back whether or not they make the shot. Yao Ming is an exciting player to watch, but he also an ambassador to his country. He brings his customs of honor and y to our nation, and I am thankful we have him. There are many wonderful aspects of the Chinese culture to be shared here in the ed States. One only has to watch the Rockets play to see the best of China in this talented young man. 18663

B. Listen to the second part of the report, focus on the questions and answers. It up to doctors to monitor the use of drugs and to be sure they are prescribing them the right reasons and not to keep patients quiet. But at the same time, we should recognize drugs can make a big difference and not condemn their increased use, either as a plot by pharmaceutical companies, or as a shortcut by busy doctors. That doesnt answer the problem of time. One simple and revolutionary idea has emerged from a doctor in South London. He was really sick and tired of prescribing anti-depressants people loneliness and anxiety and he thought there must be a way we can do something better than this, why arent we prescribing time?Sarah Burns is from the New Economics Foundations, a rem group based in London. She been working with that doctor and with a growing members of others to develop what called ;Timing Banking.;Patients who need more human contact to help them with their difficulties are linked together by a time broker who involves them in projects to build up time credits.Where money is short, as in any state-funded health service, this kind of time credit system can bring people with social problems a lot of benefit.Schemes like that do remind us that chemicals are only part of the answers to social problems, and a well-functioning society must be the background to any therapy.Loneliness, low self-esteem and anger need to be seen as problems of relationship, not just brain chemistry. 557

. Protect Your Privacy. Psychologists tell us boundaries are healthy, that it important to reveal yourself to friends, family and lovers in stages, at appropriate times. But few boundaries remain. The digital b crumbs you leave everywhere make it easy strangers to reconstruct who you are, where you are and what you like. In some cases, a simple goolge search can reveal what you think. Like it or not, increasingly we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret. The key question is: Does that matter?问题的关键是:这很重要吗? many Americans, the answer apparently is ;no;. When opinion polls ask Americans about privacy, most say they are concerned about losing it. A survey found an overwhelming pessimism about privacy, with 60 percent of respondents saying they feel their privacy is ;slipping away, and that bothers me.;在一次关于隐私的美国民意调查时,大部分人很担心失去它有一项调查发现,人们对于隐私的安全性非常地悲观,60%的被调查者说他们感觉“隐私正离他们远去,这让他们烦恼不已”But people say one thing and do another. Only a tiny fraction of Americans change any behaviors in an eft to preserve their privacy. Few people turn down a discount at tollbooths to avoid using the EZ-Pass system that can track automobile movements. And few turn down supermarket loyalty cards. Privacy economist Alessandro Acquits has run a series of tests that reveal people will surrender personal inmation like Social Security numbers just to get their hands on a pitiful 50-cents-off coupon. But privacy does matter — at least sometimes. It like health: when you have it, you dont notice it. Only when it gone do you wish youd done more to protect it.

B. Keywordssex education, safe sex, birth control. Vocabularycurriculum, abstinence, contraception, sexually transmitted disease, reproduction, condom, abortion, homosexuality.B1. In this section, you are going to hear a report about sex education in the ed States. Listen carefully and complete the following statements with proper numbers and inmation. Most students in the nation public school receive some m of sex education. But it not always clear what schools are teaching or what educators, parents and children think about it.Kids are learning a lot more about sex than many people think, and parents want schools to teach them even more.Sex education usually starts in elementary school as part of a health curriculum.By the th grade, 90% of all public school students have taken at least two sex education courses.A large majority are providing some inmation about HIVAIDS.Most are talking about abstinence, providing messages about the importance of waiting to have sex.Beginning in the 7th and 8th grades, over a half of the 1,500 junior high and high school students surveyed said they were taught how to deal with peer pressure to have sex, where to get and how to use contraception, how to talk to a partner about safe sex, and where to get tested sexually transmitted diseases, including HIVAIDS.Although a third of the schools in the study focused exclusively on abstinence, the main message in about 80% of all sex education courses is this.Young people should wait to have sex, but if they dont, they should use birth control and practice safe sex.But even fear of HIVAIDS and sexually transmitted diseases or getting pregnant doesnt always stop kids from having sex.Well, our parents know this? I think many parents have no idea with what actually happening in this school.Parents should have the right to keep their children out of sex education classes that teach things that they dont agree with. Many schools do notify parents when their child starts sex education, but in most cases, schools dont needs the parents permission.Instead 0% of schools invited parents to attend sex education classes.A surprising % of schools did not notify parents at all.Still a clear majority of parents wanted to see more sex education in schools, not less. And they dont just want abstinence or the basics of human reproduction.Over 90% of parents want schools to cover HIVAIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, rape, safe sex. Most said condoms and birth control needed to be discussed. They thought abortion was an appropriate topic, and thought that homosexuality should be included too.Researchers say this surprising level of support more sex education maybe due to the fact that parents dont talk to their children about sex, so they want schools to do it.We have a third of the students surveyed cited parents as a source of inmation about sex.61% said that the most of what they do know about sex they learned from their friends, followed by television, movies and magazines. The message that educators should note is that there is a need more sex education not less, and more practical approach to dangers and risks of sexual behavior. 501983
